Join host Eric Gorges as he combs the country for America’s finest craftsmen, documenting what it means to be a modern day maker. Traveling across the country including Kentucky, Texas, Michigan, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Indiana, Eric interviews men and women who are carrying the tools, trade and traditions of fine craftsmanship in the 21st century. In each episode Eric explains the history of an old-world craft and the importance of that craft as it is practiced in America today. A metal shaper and custom motorcycle builder by trade, he meets and interviews men and women who are master craftsmen, exploring why they chose their craft, where they learned their skills, how they live using their talents, and the challenges and importance of keeping that tradition alive in the face of mass production. Eric then takes on the role of apprentice under the guidance of the master craftsmen, demonstrating that with the right tools and careful direction, a person with no experience can learn the basic skills to create something of lasting value.
